Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh is the most corrupt state in the country, leader of opposition in the state assembly YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said.

Speaking in the assembly during a debate on the state budget here on Monday, he said according to NCAER the TDP-ruled state has become synonymous with corruption. "Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu during his lengthy speech in the assembly only gave misleading budget figures. The opposition would have expressed happiness and supported him if he spoke about the true state of affairs in AP," he said.

The YSRCP chief reminded the assembly that the chief minister himself acknowledged that they are used to show misleading budget figures. Citing a few examples he said the TDP government allocated Rs 623 crores for minority welfare but spent only Rs 472 crores, similarly Rs 4,066 crores were allocated for BCs but only Rs 2,847 crores were spent. "In this regard there was no mention about amount spent for the welfare of Kapus," YS Jagan said.

The state government has failed to give figures or action taken to tackle unemployment in the state and there is no discussion about Manjunath Commission, the YSRCP chief said.

During the heated budget discussion, members of the ruling TDP tried to disrupt and deny an opportunity for YS Jagan to speak on the floor of the house. The YSRCP MLAs demanded that YS Jagan should be allowed to speak and they gheraoed the speaker's podium to state their demand.
