TDP MLA Surprises Government With His Comments

Amaravati: In a jolt to the ruling TDP government in Andhra Pradesh, their own MLA Modhugula Venugopal Reddy questioned the government over its claim to double the earnings of the farmers in the state by 2022.

Speaking in the state assembly during the zero hour, Venugopal Reddy criticised the government of not having any plan of action to help farmers. He questioned how was it possible to double the farmers' earnings without any plan. "The farmer is unable to store the produce due to lack of godowns, how then can you dream of doubling their income," TDP MLA demanded to know in the assembly.

Replying to the points raised by Venugopal Reddy, minister Somireddi Chandramohan Reddy said, a committee headed by the agricultural university vice chancellor has been set up. The committee would study and devise a plan of action to achieve the goals of the government, minister added.
