TDP Has No Moral Right to Review Swiss Challenge

TDP has lost the moral right to reconsider the Swiss Challenge mode after the court passed serious strictures on the faulty methodology adopted and the State now trying to bring in legislation to provide cover to it is foolhardy, YSR Congress Party has said.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, party Dhone MLA and PAC chairman, Buggana Rajendernath Reddy said that the court has passed severe strictures on the State for adopting Swiss Challenge method with terms heavily loaded in favour of the Singapore companies that were awarded the contract.

In its verdict the court, responding to two private petitioners, said, normally any file would be escalated from bottom to the top but in this case the file moved downward from the top, which should not have been the case.

State Minister Narayana telling that the Government is withdrawing the notification of land allotment to Singapore companies under Swiss Challenge method following the court stay but will come back with a fresh notification shows the arrogance and its commitment to rope in the Singapore companies at any cost against the state interests, he said.

After the court has passed such serious strictures, the head of the Government should quit the office as was done by former chief ministers N Sanjeeva Reddy and N Janardhan Reddy when the courts passed such remarks against their decisions, he said.

"Instead, this government is planning to bring in legislation and reportedly discussing the issue in the cabinet which goes against the spirit of the judgement,’ he said adding that the government has lost the moral right to continue the old methodology which shows undue favour to the Singapore companies right from qualification to sale of land, which was acquired from farmers.

The profit sharing and investment ratio too is very uneven and no level play field was available for bidding. All these facts serve as a blot in the face of the government which should not try for any misadventure of bringing back the old ways of allotting the contracts to the same old Singapore companies, he said.
