TDP Cannot Dare To Call For By-polls

Vijayawada: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) cannot dare to call for by-polls for fear of losing, senior YSRCP leader Dharmana Prasada Rao said.

Addressing the media here on Saturday, he said because of the the fear of losing the polls the TDP is threatening those who filed nominations for the MLC polls. "The TDP just cannot win in a straight contest and it is aware of that fact. Hence it is threatening other party candidates who filed nominations," he said. The TDP's fear is apparent as no form of elections were conducted since the TDP came to power in the state, he said. The party is also resorting to dubious means such as poaching of MLAs from other parties to nullify opposition to its policies, he said.

The former minister also questioned the very days of the Assembly session. "Neighbouring state of Orissa had 85 days of Assembly session while Telangana had 75 days. The TDP is afraid of facing tough questions regarding administration and people welfare programmes in the Assembly. Therefore the less number of days of Assembly session," he said.
