TDP-BJP will not get more than 40 seats in Seemandhra: YS Jagan

YSR Congress Party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Sunday, in an interview to a leading news channel, said that TDP will not win more than 40, out of 175, seats in Seemandhra and that the BJP-TDP alliance is not going to give any dividends to either party.

Speaking to NDTV's CEO Prannoy Roy, YS Jagan pointed out some interesting differences in the behavior of voters in both Telangana and residuary Andhra Pradesh or Seemandhra.

"Whichever party gets majority Telanagna, I am pretty sure they will not make the half way mark. Even at the peak of the Telangana movement, TRS scored only 26 seats. In 2009, they got only 10 seats," said YS Jagan. However, he added that in Seemandhra, party winning a majority will make a clear sweep.

He added that the BJP-TDP tie up in the state will not bring in any benefits to anyone. They might see an increase of percentage or two but it wont have much of an impact, he added. He said that in Seemandhra Congress will get zero seats, while TDP will manage to score only 40 seats out of 175 seats.

When asked if YSRCP will support NDA led government in the centre, YS Jagan said except Congress, they were not averse to supporting anyone. He said that the way the Bill was brought about, was mind boggling. They carved out a state and removed Hyderabad from Seemandhra. They didn't even say how much has been earmarked for new capital, he pointed out.

Remembering his father, the former chief minister, Dr YS Rajashekara Reddy, YS Jagan said that his demise changed his entire life. Today, people know me as their son, grandson, brother, it because of all the work dad did, he said. I give them hope, they know they can expect better, he added.

Overwhelmed by the crowds that came out in large numbers to meet YS Jagan, Roy asked him for how long has YS Jagan been on the go? "For four years, we have been doing this," the young leader said.

When asked about the immense support that women from across the districts give him, YS Jagan said that he was thankful to both God for putting so much affection in the hearts of women and to the womenfolk for supporting him.
