Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa Passes Away

Jayalalithaa was declared dead on Monday.

Puratchi Talaivi and Tamil Nadu's three-time chief minister J. Jayalalithaa died on Monday after battling for life for 74 days. Jaya was hospitalised on September 22 with fever and dehydration. She recovered after a prolonged treatment for lung congestion, but suffered a heart stroke on Sunday evening and died after a team of doctors from AIIMS and London's Professor Richard Beale attended on her.

Entire Tamil Nadu plunged into deep grief with the demise of it beloved leader. The nation paid tributes to the extraordinary politician of south India.

After nearly 30 hours of suspense since the news of her cardiac arrest, Jayalalithaa’s death was announced at midnight. Her body was shifted from Apollo hospital to Rajaji Hall for the public to pay homage.

Apollo Hospital confirmed the death of Jayalalithaa. The bulletin released after 12.00am stated that Jayalalithaa died at 11.30pm.

Unlike the previous bulletins, the hospital explained the circumstances under which the ailing leader died despite their best efforts to treat her back to health.
