Amala Paul has been the subject of hot debate among film circles in Chennai. Kollywood editor B Lenin made disparaging comments about Amala's dress and this has become a controversy.

The actress’ last outing was a Tamil film Thiruttuppayale 2, and she grabbed the eyeballs with the fim's poster that showed her midriff. Amala in an interview to ToI, said, "I never thought my navel would create so much buzz around the film." She also added, "Bobby Simha used to get the jitters before doing the romantic scenes, but I always have had the upper hand in romance."

Reacting sharply, Lenin said: "She is speaking about the navel. With CG (Computer Graphics), we can go even further inside and show everything. Chee!" IBT quoted him. "What does she mean by upper hand? Who would be on top? Nonsense!" he added.

Lenin made these comments in Chennai at an event

Lenin made these comments in Chennai at an event held to show support to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati. He also commented against Deepika Padukone saying she was thrown out of the home by her father Prakash Padukone.

Lenin’s comments didn’t go down well with the actors and they came out in support of Amala. Senior actor Nasser said in an interview to Silverscreen: “ He has every right to criticise youngsters professionally, but not personally.”

“Why did he pick Amala Paul and attack her in the way he did? Is it because he thought she cannot hit back?"actress Anu Hasan told an entertainment portal.
