Tamanna effect: Tollywood heroes play it safe

Remember? A few days ago, Samaikyandhra activists surrounded the car of actress Tamanna in Vizag forcing her to shower praises on Samikyandhra.

This was a sample episode from Samaikyandhra activists to all the Tollywood artistes belonging to Seemandhra region. (Also Read)

Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, Mahesh Babu, Jr NTR or Pawan Kalyan would suffer the same fate, said many of the Samaikyandhra activists. The buzz is that actors are giving Seemandhra region a miss to escape the ire of protesters. However, currently there are no film shootings in any Seemandhra districts as they have been rescheduled or cancelled considering the gravity of the situation. In any case, the present day Telugu movies are all shot abroad.

Soon after the Centre's announcement came in favour of Telangana, many actors took to Twitter to express their views. But nobody made a tweet either in favour of Telangana or Samaikyandhra. They very much know that any controversial statement for or against the issue will only affect the fortunes of their movies.

In Vijayawada, Vizag and other places, theater owners have declared a no show to express their support for the Samaikyandhra cause. Apart from tax and changing the head quarters of Tollywood, Seemandhra protests too are becoming a major cause of concern for filmmakers who were wanting to release their movies this month.

While 'Attarintiki Daredi' and 'Yevadu' films were postponed in view of the boycott call given by NGOs and SJACs. It is learnt many of the small budget movies too are being postponed for the same reason. Even film-related events have been postponed. The grouse of Samaikyandhra activists is that none of the actors from the Seemandhra region are extending their support to the cause.

Going by the current situation in the state, this effect will continue for at least three months. Then what will happen to the fate of the movies? Can they be forever postponed.
