Suspected terrorist arrested in Kuwait brought to AP

A suspected terrorist of Indian Muslim Mohammadi Mujahideen, wanted in a contract murder case here and for raising funds for the terror module, was arrested in Kuwait and brought to the city after he went absconding in 2006.

Accused Mohammed Aijaz Ahmed, alias Aijaz, hailing from Nizamabad district, was arrested in Kuwait with the help of INTERPOL and brought to Hyderabad and remanded to judicial custody on October 9, CID Additional Director General of Police T Krishna Prasad said here today. Aijaz Ahmed was a close associate of Azam Ghauri, alias Moulana, who formed Indian Muslim Mohammadi Mujahideen (IMMM). Ghauri was killed in an encounter in 2000 at Jagityal of Karimnagar district. According to a release from the CID police, IMMM, which was then a new group was in need of funds to continue its activities.
Referring to the contract murder case, the top CID official said one Galla Radika and her husband Galla Sambasiva Rao of Vijayawada had an enmity with their neighbour Katamaraju Laxminaraya. Hired by the couple, Azam Ghauri along with Mohammed Aijaz Ahmed and others conspired and murdered Katamaraju Laxminaraya. The money that they got for carrying out the murder was used for procuring IEDs and other logistic support, Krishna Prasad said. Galla Radika and Galla Sambasiva Rao are also accused in the case.
With the help of the money, three blasts were carried out prior to 2000. The blasts took place in a sweet house in Moghalpura, a theatre in the city and another theatre at Metpally in Karimnagar. Besides, a jeweller Mahavir Prasad Modi was murdered at Begumbazar here, the release said. Mohammed Aijaz Ahmed along with his associate Anil Benhar played a cardinal role in supporting the terror group IMMM financially. After the encounter of Azam Ghauri, all the IMMM activists, including the Aijaz Ahmed, were arrested in 2000.
However, after obtaining bail, Aijaz Ahmed attended the court for some time and later absconded in 2006 and was evading arrest since then. A NBW was issued against him later, the release added.
