Vijayawada: An environmental superintendent engineer was arrested on Thursday by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for possessing assets more than Rs 3 crore disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The accused Chittiprolu Ramakoti Lingeswara Rao working at Dr Narla Tatarao Thermal Power Station (NTTPS) has six benamis.

“The properties seized from the superintendent engineer’s house and his benami are worth more than Rs 3 crore in the market,” said ACB DSP V Gopala Krishna.

Rao had reportedly developed contact with Yalamanchi Srikanth, a contract laborer in the power plant from 2007 to 2015 and transferred all his illegal assets in the name of Srikanth and his wife Jyothi as his benamis.

During raid at Rao’s residence in NTTPS C Colony and Srikanth at Gollapudi village officials found property documents which include an agricultural land at Gollapudi, Ibrahimpatnam, two triple bedroom flats in prime locations, one three-storeyed building and three plots in the city.
