Sujana Chowdary Played a Major Role in Amaravati Land Scam, too

Here is a politician who is well versed with profit and loss, only loss is something that he leaves behind for others to grapple with. He has been known to take bank loans worth hundreds of crores only to default on them. Perhaps it is this fast 'vanishing' skill of Y. S. Chowdary (a.k.a Sujana Chowdary) that earned him a cozy spot in Chandrababu's coterie.

Chandrababu had sent him to the Rajya Sabha and even found him a place on Modi's cabinet as the Minister of State for Science and Technology & Earth Sciences. Sujana Chowdary purchased 700 acres of land in the capital region and is allegedly trying to snatch another 130 acres of forest land.

Sujana Chowdary had his brother Y. Jatin Kumar's aide register a company in the name of Sri Kalinga Greentech Chemicals ltd. Even before the announcement of the capital area, he used this company to purchase vast amounts of land in Krishna district's Chandarlapadu Mandal.

126.44 acres were purchased in survey Nos – 399-7, 402-1A, 403-4,5,6, 404-1,5,6,9B, 11,12, 410-2, 412, 413, 415, 416, 417,-4, 427, 428-1,2, 429, 431, 432-1, 433, 434, 437 at the rate of Rs. 5 lakh per acre. After the announcement of the state capital, the value of this lands jumped to Rs. 50 lakh an acre. It can thus be concluded that union minister, having access to privileged information about the forthcoming announcement, duped the farmers in Gudimetla to the tune of Rs. 56.89 crore.

The minister went on record, after the announcement for the capital region was made, defending his purchases saying he had the money to buy it and there was nothing wrong in it.
