Islamabad: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has ordered all cable operators to stop broadcasting all Indian channels as it is illegal and no Indian channel has landing permission in Pakistan.
PEMRA also directed all Pakistani satellite channels and cable operators to drastically reduce foreign content in their programmes. According to PEMRA rules, No channel in Pakistan should broadcast foreign content for more than 160 minutes in a day. Pakistan is all set to launch it’s own DTH (Direct To Home) service in coming months. So it restricted Indian DTH sets too.
PEMRA issued an announcement that there is a ban on Indian DTH decoders in Pakistan and If a retailer sells Indian DTH sets, It will be treated as Illegal and case will be registered on them.
