State municipal elections to be held on March 30

Much awaited municipal elections in the state are going to be held on March 30.The schedule of the elections was released on Monday.  Elections to all the municipal councils and corporations in the state will be held on the same day.

Poling will be held from 7 am to 5 pm on that day. State election commissioner Ramakanth Reddy informed the same today. 

About 146 municipalities and 10 corporations will go to the poll on that day.Results will be declared on April 2.  

Nominations will be received from March 10-14.  The scrutiny of nominations will be done on March 15 March and the candidates can withdraw their nominations on 18. 

About 11,000 EVMs will be used in the elections in which the candidates can contest on their respective party symbols.

The limit of expenditure for the candidates in municipalities is one lakh and the amount is 1.5 lakhs in the corporations.

The commissioner said that the high court became serious on the postponement of the elections. He clarified that state government should be made responsible for the postponement of these elections. 

Elections to the GHMC will be held in November or December this year.
