Sri Rama Navami Celebrated With Deities’ Kalyanam At Bhadrachalam 

Bhadrachalam: Sri Rama Navami was celebrated with religious fervor and reverence at all Sri Rama temples across India on Wednesday. Considered the Lord Rama's birthday, Sri Rama Navami is auspicious among Hindus.

The festival has a special relevance to Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy Temple of Bhadrachalam in Khammam district of Telangana state as Sri Rama's die hard follower Bakta Ramadas was jailed for performing the deities's wedding with government funds some 400 years ago. However, the deity came to the rescue of his disciple and the government later made the celebration a state event.

The state government representatives Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari, Endowments Minister A. Indrakaran Reddy and other dignitaries presented 'Pattu Vasthralu' and 'Mutyala Talambralu' to the temple for Sitarama 'Kalyanam'. As per the muhurtham decided by the temple priests the 'Kalyanam' was held during 10:27am - 12:54pm at Midhila stadium.

Thousands of devotees thronged the temple on Sri Rama Navami for the celebration. According to Bhadrachalam temple rituals the marriage of lord rama and goddess Sita will be performed every year on the birthday of lord Rama. This is only temple which performs marriage ceremony on Sri Rama Navami. The marriage of Sita and Rama was actually held on Falguni purnima uttarashada Nakshatram as per sage Valmiki.
