Spurned Lover Attacks Woman on Valentine’s Day Eve in Kakinada

As she spurned his advances over the matter, Prasad pulled her on the road and attacked her with a knife.

Kakinada: On the eve of Valentine's Day, a spurned lover attacked a woman for turning down his love proposal in Kakinada, East Godavari district yesterday evening. Three persons who tried to save the woman were also injured in the melee.

According to the police, Akuri Prasad, a driver by profession, has been residing in Rajiv Gruhakalpa in the town. For the past a few days, he had been stalking at a woman who belongs to Sambamurthinagar colony.

On Tuesday, she visited Kanakadurga temple in the locality on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri. Prasad came near to the temple premises and insisted her reply to his love proposal. As she spurned his advances over the matter, Prasad pulled her on the road and attacked her with a knife.

Three persons — Kudipudi Satyanarayana, Pithani Srinu and Medisetti Sadasambasivulu, who were at the nearby tea stall, tried to save her. In the fight, the bystanders overpowered Prasad and handed over him to the police. All the three people including the woman were rushed to hospital, where were said to be out of danger.
