Footballer Neymar Accused Of Rape: Reports
Hyderabad: Star striker Neymar has been accused of raping a woman at a Paris Hotel according to reports from Brazil media on Saturday. Coming out in his defence, Neymar's father who is also his business agent said that this was attempted blackmail.
According to a complaint filed with Sao Paolo police and reported by various media sites, the player is accused of having sex with the victim without consent.
Sao Paulo's security did not provide the copy of the complaint to a leading news agency saying its contents were classified.
The news agency reports that the woman, who lives in Brazil allegedly met Neymar through Instagram and after exchanging messages the Paris Saint-Germain star invited her to visit Paris in mid-May.
According to the complainant, Neymar arrived in the hotel room reportedly in an inebriated state and the two exchanged 'caresses'. But sometime later he forced him onto her and had sex without the consent of the woman.
Neymar's father Neymar Santos denied the accusations and said that his son was a victim of blackmail and that all evidence has been given to the lawyers.
Neymar Santos said that the duo went on for a date, but Neymar never wanted to see her again. The woman has since been asking money from the player and his family, he alleged.
Media report suggest that the woman was in Paris from May 15 to 17, but waited till Friday to file a complaint in Brazil because she was "emotionally shaken."
Neymar is currently in Brazil preparing for Copa America which takes place in the country from June 14 to July 7.
