Hyderabad: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has submitted a preliminary report on investigation into cases against slain gangster Nayeem. The list comprising several names of top brass in the police department and political circles as well. The ongoing SIT’s investigation into cases against the Naxalite-turned-gangster is revealing several interesting factors, including the nexus between politics and the underworld.

The latest is the allegations of Nayeem’s links witha Hyderabad-based former minister. The police suspect that the former minister was involved in several land settlements and encroachments with the support of Nayeem, who carefully noted down details of every transaction in his diary. The police are taking the help of the dairy in unraveling the slain gangster’s linkages.

So far SIT has identified 42 top police officials, who extended their all-out co-operation to Nayeem and received financial benefits. The list of identified police officials includes 18 IPS officers.
