Ridiculing Chandrababu Naidu's claims that State was zooming on the fast lane of growth and development, YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said the TDP Government was trying to whitewash its ignomious economic failure. He charged Chandrababu with falsifying figures to show an increased GDP in the residual Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing an impressive Yuva Bheri, a gathering of youths demanding special category status at Vizianagaram in North Andhra region, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said Chandrababu Naidu, who should have led the fight for special state status for Andhra Pradesh, was soft-peddlng the issue. He now reneged on his demand and says that special state status was not needed for the industrial development.

Needed, a job revolution

He said a new revolution - the job revolution - is needed and the only way to achieve it is to get the special state status. He reminded that Chandrababu had repeated ad nauseum his demand for special state status for 15 years and said now Chandrababu is backtracking on the demand. YS Jagan charged Chandrababu Naidu with betraying the people of Andhra

He poohpoohed Chandrababu's claims of AP's growth story. He said Chandrababu's claims are farcical. He said agriculture, manufacturing sector and the service sectors - the three prime growth engines that catapult the GDP, were on the decline. Given this scenario, how can anyone claim that Andhra Pradesh is scripting an economic growth story, he asked.

Ragnar Nurkse’s Theory of Vicious circle of Poverty

Vicious circle of poverty

Quoting celebrated economist Ragnar Nurkse and his theory of vicious circle of poverty and scarcity of capital, YS Jagan said Andhra Pradesh is a classic case of vicious circle of poverty. He said while YSR brought buoyancy of economy by effecting a raise in real incomes and disposable incomes through a slew of welfare measures in the fields of health, education, agriculture and industry, Chandrababu Naidu has neglected these and has mired the state into a vicious circle of poverty.

Unfulfilled promises

"If AP gets special category status, it would top the charts of economic development. There would be more jobs and more industries,"" YS Jagan stated. He said Chandrababu is imposing draconian measures like Preventive Detention Act on those demanding special state status. "Shouldn't Chandrababu be booked under TADA?" YS Jagan thundered. He also slammed the Union Government's contention that they have done a lot for Andhra Pradesh and asked what exclusive institution was given to the state. Quoting extensively from Government status, he said nothing new has been given to the state of Andhra Pradesh. "Though Polavaram project is part of the AP Bifurcation Act, the Centre is not doing anything to achieve it. Is it not an injustice?" he asked.

"Special Category has already been denied. Even the special package, that the Government has promised, is watered down. The Government in the State and the Centre ," he said. Quoting Bertrand Russel's famous quote 'The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt,' he alled upon the people to join the fight for the just demand of the people of Andhra Pradesh.
