Hyderabad: Demand for special status to Andhra Pradesh rocked the state assembly for the third consecutive day on Saturday. As soon as the assembly session began, legislators of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) raised slogans demanding a discussion on the special status issue.

TDP MLAs also shut down the mike while leader of the opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was addressing the assembly.

They, along with members of other opposition parties, rushed to speaker’s podium. However, members of the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP), resorted to mud-slinging and used abusive language against the opposition party MLAs. They also shut down the mike while leader of the opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was addressing the assembly. Not stopping at that, marshals were called-in to remove the opposition members from the floor of the house.

Later, addressing the media, YS Jagan said that such high-handedness by the ruling party itself lowers the dignity of the state assembly. He strongly condemned the actions of the TDP in denying a discussion on the special status for the state.
