2017 has been a lucky year for many of the celebrities though for some it remained a disaster as their movies had failed to impress the audience. There are several movies which garnered huge collections at the box office and also made their mark in the South Indian film industry. Topping the list with Rajamouli's Baahubali, there are several other films that made the audience proud in 2017.

Baahubali 2: The Conclusion

Rajamouli's magnum opus Baahubali franchise had received a massive response from the audience and has become Google's most searched movies of the year. The film is now gearing up for its release in Japan onDecember 29 and the trailer of its Russian version also released recently. The movie broke all the record of Indian films and has become highest grossed movie in the year. The Hindi version of the film collected nearly 50% of the global revenue with a worldwide Hindi version gross of Rs. 827.4 crores.

Mersal

Tamil actor Vijay's 'Mersal' was a blockbuster hit in Kollywood by collecting Rs 254 crores in 50 days. The film, which showed some economic issues of the country has topped second in the list after Baahubali. Mersal crossed the record of Rajinikanth's 'Kabali' and 'Endhiran'. The movie also registered the third biggest opening weekend for an Indian film released in 2017.

Khaidi No.150

After a long time, Megastar Chiranjeevi has made his comeback with the movie 'Khaidi No. 150', which made record of most grossed movies of Tollywood. The movie has collected Rs 103 crores and secured a place in the Telugu industry after the movie Baahubali 2: The Conclusion.

Arjun Reddy

Vijay Deverakonda's Arjun Reddy became a box office sensation, which featured actress Shalini Pandey as female lead. The movie helped the actor to establish his career in the Telugu industry. After the movie, Vijay has become the most sought-after hero in Tollywood. The movie collected Rs 50 crore at the worldwide box office.

Meesaya Murukku

Tamil's romantic-comedy entertainer 'Meesaya Murukku' made its box-office record by collecting Rs 17 crores all over the world. Directed by Hiphop Tamizha, the movie is based on the life of a music director. The film was released on 21 July 2017 to positive reviews.

Vikram Vedha

This is the first film for actor Vijay Sethupathy to enter into Rs50 crores club. The movie also became one of the top ten highest grossing Tamil films in USA. The crime thriller also features R.Madhavan in a key role. The movie has made Rs 37 crores all over the world.
