Sonia, Rahul arrive at Patiala Court in National Herald case

Amid tight security AICC chief Sonia Gandhi and her son and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi reached the Patiala court to appear in the National Herald Case on Saturday. They were accompanied by Priyanka Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge. Ahmed Patel, Sonia's political secretary, is already in the court.

Special security arrangements have been made on Saturday in and around Patiala House courts in Delhi ahead of the appearance of Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi. Only those linked to the case are being allowed into the court premises.

A team of Special Protection Guard (SPG), Border Security Force, and anti-bomb squad has been deployed inside and outside the court premises.

The court had ordered Sonia and Rahul Gandhi to appear on Saturday in connection with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy's complaint in the National Herald case.

On June 26 last year, the trial court issued summons to the Congress leaders on Swamy's complaint about "cheating" in the acquisition of Associated Journals Ltd (AJL) by Young India Ltd (YIL), a firm in which Sonia and Rahul Gandhi each own a 38 percent stake.

The Delhi High Court last week dismissed the plea of the Gandhi's to quash the summons issued to them by a trial court.
