Smuggling in Shamshabad airport: 2 GMR staff members suspended
Hyderabad: Two staff members of GMR were suspended on Tuesday for allegedly helping smugglers in Shamshabad International Airport.
Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) arrested Bhaskar Reddy and Ram Naidu working in Shamshabad International Airport. On Monday morning, customs officials seized 8 kgs of gold from a passenger arriving from Dubai. Upon arrest and interrogation, passenger revealed to officials that these two staff members of GMR are helping in smuggling gold. According to the passenger, these two officials got Rs.20 Lakh in various forms for helping the smooth process of illegal transportation of goods.
Based on the smugglers statement, GMR suspended the two employees. Both Bhaskar Reddy and Ram Naidu accepted their involvement in investigation. Police registered a case and arrested the duo.
