SIT Registers 72 Cases Against Gangster Nayeem. Arrests 77 So Far

SIT on Thursday arrested 10 culprits, who worked closely with Nayeem and Pasham Srinu. Majority of these criminals were involved in police cases registered in Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar, Khammam, Karimnagar and Ranga Reddy districts.

Hyderabad: The Special Investigation Team (SIT), which has been probing into the criminal activity of slain gangster Nayeem, has booked 72 cases against the Naxalite-turned-criminal and arrested 77 culprits so far including 10 held on Thursday. Majority of these cases were pertaining to Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar, Khammam, Karimnagar and Ranga Reddy districts.

Nine associates in Nalgonda and one in Koratla, Karimanagar were arrested yesterday. The arrested criminals are Pootha Balakishan, MD Akhil Pasha, Rapalu Sudarshan, Jukanti Buchaiah, MD Khasi Saheb, Sudhakar, Venkatesh (Advocate), Srinivas, Sridhar Raju and Mohammad Ashroff (brother-in-law of Nayeem). All these were working closely with Nayeem adn Pasham Srinu, according to the Police.

The arrested criminals were accused in seven cases on kidnapping and engaged in extortion, threatening at gun point, encroaching lands, grabbing land and properties by paying throw away prices, etc. All these arrested have been taken into custody for further interrogation from Charlapalli Central Jail.

Meanwhile, Achaiah, a farmer from Chandupatla village in Bhongir mandal, has lodged a complaint against Nayeem’s associates, who got his 22 acres registred on their names in 2004 by threatening to kill him. It’s learnt that a case registered against a former Municipal Chairman in connection with encroachment of venture comprising 154 acres at Bommayipalli near Bhongir. Taking undue advantage of challenging financial position of Police drivers and constables, Nayeem used to pay every month as per the ‘Package’ fixed for everyone in the department.

Bhongir police sought PT Warrant from the court for Pasham Srinu, Sandela Sudhakar, Totakuri Venkatesh Yadav, Abdul Nazer, who’re in judicial remand.

On the other side, the list of complaints is getting longer as people are coming forward to the Police stations seeking justice. Some complaints also highlight the involvement of public representatives, according to the police. MLAs, MLCs and other local leaders were in the complaints filed by Nayeem’s victims.

Police Drivers Used as Coverts

It’s learnt that Nayeem used Police drivers for accessing information about movements of top officials and inside happenings. The drivers of SPs and DSPs were used as coverts in the Nayeem’s network. Taking undue advantage of challenging financial position of Police drivers and constables, Nayeem used to pay every month as per the ‘Package’ fixed for everyone in the department.
