Hyderabad: After a brief lull in updates on investigation into over 150 cases against slain gangster Nayeem, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is reportedly setting the stage ready for arresting politicians and officials in connection with underworld mafia. SIT on Thursday reviewed the investigation so far since the police encounter. The KCR-led Telangana Government is expected to take stringent action against all those who rubbed shoulders with Nayeem as public strongly believe that the gangster was able to build up such a massive underworld activity with help of politicians and government officials.

SIT has mobilized evidences confirming the nexus of politicians and officials with the gangster Nayeem. Even after the encounter, some politicians threatened the key witnesses to withdraw the cases. SIT also involved forensic experts to ascertain the voices of politicians. A senior official on a condition of anonymity said that forensic department's confirmation reports on audio analysis of politicians' voices in threatening calls are ready now. Based on forensic reports, SIT is getting ready for arresting all those involved in criminal activity along with Nayeem.

Telangana police gunned down renegade Maoist-turned extortionist Mohammed Nayeemuddin at Shadnagar in Mahbubnagar district on August 8. Nayeem was wanted by the CBI in connection with Sohrabuddin Sheikh's 'encounter' case in Gujarat.

SIT received written complaints about two public representatives from Nalgonda district. One police official helped Nayeem by closing all the cases by registering all the cases against killings by Nayeem as mysterious deaths and closed them. SIT has mobilized key evidences from family members of those killed by Nayeem.

Nayeem's Wife, Sister Appear Before Koratla Court

Police on Thursday produced Nayeem's wife Hasina Begum and his sister Salima Begum, in Koratla Court in Jagtial district. Nayeem's associates extorted Rs30 lakh from Rawoof, an owner of beedi manufacturing company in the town. During the investigation, police came to know that this amount was given to Nayeem's wife and sister. Few cases against these two have been filed in Koratla police station.

After the encounter, Nayeem's wife and sister have been arrested on PT Warrant and kept them Chanchalguda Jail. The Court remanded them for nine days.
