Kurnool: In a big jolt to the ruling Telugu Desam Party, on a day when it's candidate Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy filed his nomination, it's MLC Silpa Chakrapani Reddy resigned from the primary membership of the party and also to his MLC post to join his brother Silpa Mohan Reddy,who is the YSRCP nominee.

Speaking on the occasion, Silpa Chakrapani Reddy expressed displeasure for being ignored by the party leadership in the district.

Chakrapani Reddy said he would join the YSRCP along with his supporters in the presence of party chief and opposition leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in Nandyal on Thursday. He is expected to meet YS Jagan on Wednesday evening prior to his joining in the party.

"I had worked hard for the development of the party in whatever position I was in. I toiled relentlessly for the TDP in the last two years. But Minister Bhuma Akhila Priya and other TDP leaders are making baseless allegations against me and my brother Silpa Mohan Reddy," he said.

Chakrapani Reddy has distanced himself from the party activities ever since Bhuma Akhila Priya was made a Minister in the Chandrababu Government. His brother Silpa Mohan Reddy had met him on Monday and sought his support in the election. Subsequently, Chakrapani Reddy convened a meeting with his supporters and party workers on Tuesdayto elicit their opinion. He said he will gift a victory to YS Jagan in the Nandyal bypolls.
