Shop gutted in fire

Nalgonda: A fire broke out in a shop near the new bus stand at Bhongir town in the district, in which assets worth Rs 15 lakh were destroyed, police official said.

However, there was no casualty reported in the incident which occurred on Wednesday as Diwali revelries were on, Fire Officer Raghava Reddy said. 

Prime facie, the blaze started after a firecracker fell in the wood shop, he said. The officer said assets, worth Rs 15 lakh, including a car and bike were damaged in the blaze. In a separate incident, 20 cars were damaged allegedly by unidentified persons in Deverakonda town in the district late last night, police said.
Some persons threw stones and damaged the cars. The matter is being investigated, a police officer said.
