Sharmila recovers from injury, to resume padayatra

YS Sharmila, sister of YSR Congress Party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who had undergone surgery for a knee injury sustained during the ‘Maro Praja Prastanam’ padayatra  in December last is ready to restart her walkathon.

Sharmila had undergone medical checkups at the Apollo hospital in Hyderabad today.

YSRCP spokesperson Vasireddy Padma who visited Sharmila at the Apollo hospital said that Sharmila  has recovered well and is ready to resume her padaytra. The date will be decided and announced soon after consulting other leaders of the party, she said.
When reporters stressed the exact date of resuming the padaytra, the YSRCP leader said that it may be in the first week of February.

Doctors who have been monitoring the treatment said that "she has fully recovered from the injury and can walk normally. However, before she starts her walkathon, she has to do some physiotherapy exercises everyday in the morning and night. Regular check up is also needed. She has to be under observation for four days before resuming her walkathon," doctors said.

Sharmila who was on  'Maro Praja Prastanam' padaytra at BN Reddy Nagar in Ranga Reddy district , sustained a knee injury while getting down from  a vehicle on December 14, 2012.

Sharmila had completed walking a distance of 822 km in 57 days, prior to the ligament injury.
