Sharmila holds State Govt responsible for Yerran’s tragic death

Despite having enough strength to move a no-confidence motion against the ineffective Congress Government in the State, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the main Opposition in the State Assembly, is not taking any step towards this end, YS Sharmila, the YSR Congress leader and daughter of late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy said today.

Addressing a massive gathering at Lakthavaram in Ananthapur Assembly segment, Sharmila lashed out at the TDP for its miserable failure in performing its bounden duty as the prime Opposition party. “The TDP does not bother about the people’s problems. Nor it takes up the issues of any section of society like farmers or weavers or any sector. Its only concern is saving this inefficient and incompetent Congress Government in the State. What more evidence do you need that the TDP had colluded with the Congress,” Sharmila asked amid loud cheers from the public.

She was in Lakthavaram in Ananthapur district as part of her ongoing Maro Praja Prasthanam Padayatra. The people of this State would teach a fitting lesson to both the Congress and the TDP at an appropriate time, Sharmila thundered as the crowd greeted her in unison with a loud “yes”.

The dream of the women who are eagerly waiting for interest-free loans will be realized very soon as the Rajanna Rajyam is not far away. “The golden era of the late YSR will soon be back and you all can reap the benefits, including interest-free loans for women and irrigation water for the parched lands” she said.

Later, Sharmila visited Handri-Neeva project en route her Padayatra to Uravakonda. “If five per cent of the ongoing Handri-Neeva works are complete, farmers will get irrigation water to their lands. But the State Government is least bothered to complete even this minimum amount of work,” she said at another rally.

She held the State Government responsible for senior TDP leader K Yerran Naidu’s tragic death in a road accident yesterday. The 108 ambulance did not arrive at the spot ontime. Had the 108 come soon after a call was made Yerran Naidu’s life would have been saved and scores of his supporters would not have been rendered leaderless, she observed. “Yerran Naidu’s case is not an isolated one. Several innocent and valuable lives are lost in this manner which are going unnoticed,” she added. When YSR was alive those managing the same 108 ambulance facility were on their toes and used to attend the phone calls regularly. “Now there is no monitoring mechanism following which they are acting at their whims and fancies,” she said.
