Setback For Defected MLA Uppuleti Kalpana

Vijayawada: YSRCP MLA Uppuleti Kalpana who announced her plans to join the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) faced major setback on Saturday as her supporters refused to follow her footsteps in to the TDP.

Mandal convenors of Pamarru, Movva, Thotlavalluru and Pamidimukkala said that the names and numbers of YSRCP members given by Kalpana are all wrong. Movva and Pamarru ZPTC members Vijayashanti and Padmavathi clarified that those mentioned by her are not joining the TDP.

Meanwhile, YSRCP leader Parthasarathi said that TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu is shamelessly violating constitution to poach MLAs from other parties. He said that none of the YSRCP members from East Godavari and Krishna districts are joining the TDP along with Kalpana. Citing the plight of MLAs who have already switched loyalties and joined the TDP, Parthasarathi said those MLAs are not even getting an appointment with Chandrababu Naidu let alone plum posts in the party. "If Chandrababu is confident of his party's numbers in the assembly and public backing then he should do a reality check by facing the electorate," he suggested.
