Seemandhra MPs disrupt Lok Sabha over Telangana

Parliament was disrupted on Monday on the first day of the monsoon session, as some members vehemently opposed the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

The Rajya Sabha was adjourned three times, first for 15 minutes around 11.20 a.m. and then till noon.

At noon, two members from the Seemandhra region continued to protest against the formation of a separate Telangana, forcing Deputy Chairman P.J. Kurien to adjourn the house till 2 p.m.

The Lok Sabha was adjourned around 11.45 a.m. till noon.

At noon, it took up zero hour amidst protests on Telangana. There also were members seeking the formation of a separate Bodoland from Assam protesting in the house.
In the Rajya Sabha, as soon as Chairman M. Hamid Ansari started the question hour after obituary references and oath taking by new members, Seemandhra region members trooped to near the chairman's podium.

Bodoland People's Front member Biswajit Daimary also came near the chairman's podium demanding a separate state of Bodoland, to be carved out of Assam.

Amidst the din, the upper house was first adjourned for 15 minutes, and then till noon.
Similar scenes were witnessed in the Lok Sabha during question hour. However, the lower house managed to take one question before the protest started.
