Seemandhra activists fight for united Andhra

Over a dozen Congress leaders from Andhra-Rayalaseema are campaigning in Delhi to exert pressure on the Congress High Command not to divide the state.

According to reports, Seemandhra leaders today met Union Minister Vayalar Ravi, who has been involved in managing Congress affairs in Andhra Pradesh and appealed him not to divide the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Vayalar, who was to leave Kerala immediately, indicated that he would meet them again on Tuesday evening.

It is learnt that the party workers met Digvijay Singh a few minutes ago. The latter is supposed to have told them that the Congress has already conveyed its decision to Sushil Kumar Shinde and an announcement is likely soon.

The Centre's announcement that the issue of the state's bifurcation will be sorted out by the 28th of this month and also several leaders' statements that the High Command was favourably inclined towards granting separate statehood to Telangana, has led the Seemandhra leaders to tour the country's capital.

Earlier in the day, talking to reporters before leaving to Delhi, Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that the state will not be divided and there is no possibility for such a scenario.
He also said that the ministers and the MLAs camp in Delhi for two days and meet the High Command to explain the benefits if the state remained undivided!

Ministers E Pratap Reddy,T G Venkatesh, S Sailajanath, Kasu Krishna Reddy, P Viswarup  and senior leader Gade Venkata Reddy are already in the capital while some other leaders are expected to reach Delhi today.
