With the political mercury soaring up in the runup to the bypoll in Nandyal, the campaign is picking up pace. Both the YSRCP and the ruling Telugu Desam are leaving no stone unturned to reach out to the voters through their high profile campaign.
The YSRCP got a shot in the arm on Sunday when Habeebullah, president of the Social Democratic Party of India, a powerful party with deep roots in the Muslim community, joined the YSRCP. he was welcomed into the party by party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Several of Habeebullah's supporters too joined the YSRCP. Habeebullah contested the elections in 2014. Meanwhile, as many as 500 activists joined the party in Nandyal. Party MP Mithun Reddy, MLa Ravindra Reddy and party leader Hafiz Khan were present on the occasion.
