The judge rejected Sasikala’s request to treat her as a special prisoner

Bengaluru: Amid tensions erupted at Parappana Agrahara jail in Bengaluru, VK Sasikala and two of her accomplices in the disproportionate assets case in which the trio sentenced to four-year imprisonment by Supreme Court surrendered to be put behind bars on Wednesday.

The XXXVI Additional Special Judge court specially set up in the jail premises completed the procedures before sending Sasikala, her brother's wife Ilavarasi and sister's son Sudhakaran to prison. Medical tests were conducted on all three convicts before sending them behind bars.

Tensions prevailed for a brief period when some unruly persons attacked the convoy of Sasikala near the jail. Police resorted to lathicharge to dispel the mobs.

Sasikala requested the court to allot her a special cell in the jail with facilities such as AC, TV, mineral water and a personal assistant in view of her health condition. She also made a request for her to get home food. However, the judge rejected her requests and the jail authorities allotted her No. 9235. Sudhakaran has been put in another common cell.

The trio will spend around three-and-a-half years at the jail as she already spent around six months when the case was first decided in 2012.
