Saddened by the birth of daughter, father kills self in Krishna

The birth of a daughter in many an Indian family, does not bring joy, and female infanticide is still a rampant practice. But in Krishna District, a father unable to bear the news of the birth of his second daughter, committed suicide, instead.

 Sadam Hussain, 28, a resident of Kanchikacharla was depressed after his wife gave birth to a second girl two months ago. According to reports, Hussain was hoping to get a son when he got to know that this wife was carrying again. But the birth of his second daughter pushed him into depression. He tried committing suicide twice before, but failed. 

On Wednesday he went to the the fields and hung himself from a tree. Kanchikarla police have registered a case of suicide.
