The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has chosen to unofficially retire the iconic No.10 jersey, worn by Sachin Tendulkar, the 'God of Cricket' .

BCCI said, "Players get criticized unnecessarily and controversies are raked up for no reason. Hence it’s better to retire the number unofficially. Players, though, can wear it when they play for India A or a non-international list A match, but not during an international.” Sachin was last seen wearing the jersey in March 2012 playing against neighbour Pakistan.

It is worth mentioning here that Jersey No. 10 stoked a controversy after Mumbai bowler Shardul Thakur wore it for an ODI. The cricketer was trolled for this. Sachin, however, shot back at the trolls and said that Shardul wore it due to numerological consideration.
