Hyderabad: Nearly 24 Haj pilgrims were denied to stay in Rubaat in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, despite possessing accommodation permit.

A Rubaat is a place where free food is offered to pilgrims from Hyderabad and other places that belong to the Nizam’s erstwhile dominions.

According to sources, four such cases have been reported to Telangana State Haj Committee (TSHC) seeking its intervention.

“The confusion was created on account of the Nizam’s Auqaaf Committee giving accommodation permits to wait listed pilgrims without cancelling permits of those who later chose not to stay at the Rubaat. The committee is making arrangements to arrange for the accommodation of 24 pilgrims,” said special officer Prof. SA Shukoor.

Prof. Shukoor said that as the final list sent by Indian Consulate in Jeddah didn’t have their names hence they were denied accommodation, adding, arrangements are being made to house the 24 pilgrims in Rubaat buildings in Shisha and Bakhtumama in Mecca.

Deputy chief minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali last month held a draw of lots to select pilgrims who would be given accommodation permits to stay at the Rubaat.
