Senior RSS functionary of South India Ramachandra Sadasiv Haldekar aka Rambhau Haldekar (87) passed away in Hyderabad on Thursday. He was 87.
Born in Halda village of Sambhajinagar in Maharashtra, Haldekar joined RSS as a youth and became its Pracharak in 1954. He worked as Prant Pracharak (State Organiser) for undivided Andhra Pradesh and Kshetra Pracharak of AP and Odisha. Currently, he is a member of the zonal team comprising AP and Odisha. He is one of the pioneering builders of RSS in undivided AP and had translated three novels from Marathi into Telugu. His novels sold close to 25000 copies each. He was one of the key RSS workers during the underground resistance movement against Emergency during 1970s.
As per his wishes, his eyes were donated to an eye bank. The last rites would be performed on Friday at Ambarpet cremation grounds.
