Republic day celebration in Vijayawada

On the occasion of the 66th Republic Day , Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Governor ESL Narasimhan unfurled the tricolour and received ceremonial guard of honour  in Vijayawada.

Newly announced capital Vijayawada sets stage for Republic day celebrations in bifurcated A.P.. A.P. 's first Republic day celebrations will be hosted in VJW as the state government had announced that area around Vijayawada city will be developed into the new capital of Andhra Pradesh.
As part of the celebrations, various tableaux, showcasing a number of schemes of the state government and the ones by famous Tirumala Tirupati Devstanam, was displayed at the function  at the Indira Gandhi municipal stadium, the venue of the programme.
Narasimhan and state chief minister Chandrababu Naidu arrived in Vijayawada on Sunday night. Krishna district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the occasion. Mahatma Gandhi road remained closed on Monday morning for general public and only invitees were allowed with their vehicles, according to district officials. Governor delivered a speech addressing guests and public.
After taking part in AP celebrations, Narasimhan left for Hyderabad to participate in similar celebrations organised by K Chandrashekhar Rao-led Telangana government.
