Relief to Outlook team in Smitha Sabharwal case

In a major relief for the Outlook magazine and its representatives, the High Court stayed all actions, including their arrest, till the judgement on the Smitha Sabharwal case is given.

Accusing Outlook representatives Madhavi Tata, Sahil Bhatia, Krishna Prasada and Indranil Roy of tarnishing his wife and IAS officer Smitha Sabharwal, her husband and IPS officer Akun Sabharwal filed a defamation suit. However, the Outlook approached the court seeking quashing of the petition. High Court judge Justice B Sivasankar Rao, who heard the arguments, has kept the verdict in abeyance and granted relief to the four representatives of the Outlook till the verdict is pronounced.

The Outlook has published a piece on Smitha Sabharwal on its pages, which the IAS officer found highly objectionable.
