Ready to move out, but need livable alternative: Chiranjeevi

Hyderabad:  Former union minister Chiranjeevi on Thursday termed the move to issue eviction notice to him for vacating his official bungalow in Delhi as unfair, saying he was ready to move out but the alternative house offered to him was not yet in a habitable condition.

The Congress Rajya Sabha member said he was recently allotted 5-Tughlaq Road residence, but when he went there he was told that it would take one or two months to complete the repairs." There is no electricity and other facilities at 5 Tughlaq Road. It's in a dilapidated condition. How could I go there now?" he said, talking to said here. The actor-turned-politician said that eviction notice would have been justified if he was hanging onto the present house, which was not the case. "I am ready to go. But I have only asked them to allot me an alternative, desirable house in livable condition," he added. He also claimed that only he and the former Defence Minister A K Antony had been asked to move out while other former UPA Ministers continue to stay in the same bungalows. "It's negligence of the Urban Development ministry. It's unfair. I don't know about (if there is) pressure to allot my present bungalow to someone else. If they force me to leave, I am helpless," he said.

Following the expansion of union cabinet, eviction notices would be issued to former UPA ministers including Chiranjeevi, Vyalar Ravi and Rajiv Shukla who are yet to vacate their official bungalows, official sources said in New Delhi earlier on Thursday.
