Ramya Would Have Survived But for NIMS Doctors’ Negligence

Last kiss: Ramya’s mother kisses daughter before the body was shifted to Osmaina hospital for post-mortem on Sunday.

Hyderabad: Ramesh, one of the uncles of Ramya who died after battling for nine days for life on Saturday night, says NIMS is equally responsible for the death of the cute 9-nine- year-old girl.

“Nobody cared to attend on our child at NIMS for full four hours. When we insisted on starting treatment and tests, they answered like illeterates saying they can’t operate the scanning machine and it is in some other building. They said they were observing the condition of the patient, without doing any treatment,” the wailing family members told the minister T. Srinivas Yadav at Care hospital before the girl’s body was shifted to Osmania General Hospital for post-martem on Sunday.

Doctors bluntly told us to take her to Yashoda hospital if we want a better treatment, Ramesh complained.

The family members rued that had the doctos taken timely action at NIMS, the girl would have survived. “She was conscious for two hours after the accident and with no proper medical aid coming from NIMS doctors, she slipped into unconscious and her chances of survival diminished,” they said.

It was a heart-wrenching scene when Ramya’s mother, who has been undergoing treatment at Yashoda hospital after being seriously injured in the accident at Banjara Hills on July 1, was taken in a medical van to Care hospital to have the last sight of her beloved daughter’s body. She came to know of the baby’s death only this morning.

Ramya’s grandparents are still in serious condition and undergoing treatment in ICU.

Srinivas Yadav said the government is taking a serious note of the accident in which one of Ramya’s uncles Rajesh died on the spot, grandparents and mother seriously injured. “The police have booked a case under section 304(2)(B) which will try the accused for not just an accident but also for criminal negligence as the he did not hold a driver’s license. The police are even trying to book cases on the other five passengers in the car along the the accused who all were drunk at the time,” minister said.

Expressing his deep condolences to the family, Yadav personally monitored the post-mortem arrangements and assured to order an inquiry into the negligent behavior of doctors at NIMS.

The entire neighborhood in DD Colony plunged into grief when Ramya’s body was taken to Golnaka graveyard for funeral. This was the second death in the family within a fortnight. Her uncle Rajesh died on the spot in the accident.
