Hyderabad: The YSRCP official spokesperson Ambati Rambabu on Monday lambasted the attitude of the AP government and Chandrababu Naidu in particular for his dictatorial way of functioning. He warned that the government would pay the price for trying to undemocratically stifle public demonstrations that were being held to oppose the its corrupt practices.

Addressing the media from the party central office in Hyderabad on Monday, Rambabu reiterated that the party's stand was not against shifting the official machinery to Amaravati but against the haphazard and hasty way of moving to a temporary legislative assembly and secretariat when the necessary infrastructure and facilities were not available, and causing a lot of inconvenience to a lot of families.

He alleged that Chandrababu was doing things in such a hurried manner without heeding to reason only to cover his corrupt practices. He did not want his corrupt practices coming under probe by the Telangana police by continuing the governance from Hyderabad, which was available to them as the common state capital for ten years, he said.

Crushing public demonstrations

Rambabu further alleged that Chandrababu moved to the new state where he could control state machinery to do his bidding. He pointed out to Chandrababu's instructions to the AP collectors where he asked them to use the Preventive Detention Act on the demonstrators.

The orders to use the PD Act (which was used against rowdies and hardened criminals), against the opposition leaders betrayed Chandrababu's dictatorial tendencies, he said. He pointed out to the recent demonstration held by CPI leader Madhu against an Aqua food park near Bhimavam and condemned the police behaviour in stifling the demonstration.

Ramababu derided the government's ritual of putting the YSRCP leaders under house arrest everywhere Chandrababu and Venkaiah Naidu travelled. He said that police was meant to maintain peace and order and root out crime and not to tread on peaceful demonstrators with an iron foot.

He said that the people were not blind to the omissions and commissions of the government and warned that the people would make the government pay a heavy price for its heavy handedness.
