Hyderabad: Incessant rains have lashed most parts of Twin Cities on Tuesday bringing life to a standstill. Water-logging and traffic snarls brought the city on its knees. Overflowing drains have made matters worse.

There was knee-level water in several places. Several localities in the city were inundated due to flood water. Traffic is moving at a snail's pace at Kukatpally, Miyapur along the Lingapally and BHEL stretch. Areas like Punjagutta, Banjara Hills, Nampally, Madhapur, Mehidipatnam, Secunderabad, Hi-Tech city and adjacent localities in the IT corridor soaked in rain.

With more rains predicted in the coming 48 hours, the denizens are bracing up for harrowing times. Power outages have also been reported in some parts of the city. Metro Rail works were suspended at all the locations as a precautionary measure.

According to the Met officials, rains will continue to lash the city, north Telangana, north coastal Andhra region in the next 48 hours.

Kachiguda, Masab Tank, Katta Maisamma temple, Kavadiguda, Nampally Police Control Room, Balkampet Yellamma temple, Tolichowki, Suryanagar Colony, Taj Island junction, Begumpet Life Style stretch, Greenlands and Punjagutta X Roads.

Water-level raises in Hussain Sagar

Water-levels rose significantly in Hussain Sagar lake following the incessant rains for the past couple of days. According to the Irrigation officials, the inflow is at 1200 cusec of water while the outflow is 300 cusecs. Hussain Sagar gates were lifted to release the water downstream.

A couple of trees were uprooted in Abids and Jubilee Hills.
