Protest against rape: Vijayamma, Sharmila show the way

The YSR Congress party is known to fight for the causes of people. Be it perennial power cuts, non implementation of welfare schemes for the poor or even floods and droughts that have hit the state, the party is the first to react.

This time is no exception. The YSRCP held a unique protest in Krishna district to express their displeasure over the rape of a five-year-old girl in New Delhi. The party members, including its honorary president YS Vijayamma and Sharmila wore black ribbons around their mouth to protest against the brutal crime.They observed a few minutes of silence hoping for the recovery of the minor girl who's battling for life at the AIIMS hospital in the nation's capital.

Speaking at the protest venue, Vijayamma expressed her deep concern towards the raped child. These type of incidents can be prevented if the government takes stringent action against the culprits.
She also said that there should be change in the mindset of people. "Everyone should see a sister and mother in every girl," she added.

Thereafter, Sharmila pursued her padayatra 'Maro Praja Prasthanam' from Anigandlapadu in Krishna district.
