Decision on new capital within six months

Union Minister and member in Group of Ministers (GOM) on Telangana, Jairam Ramesh said that a decision on the new capital for Seemandhra state would be taken within six months. Earlier, ministers had said that the capital will be decided in 45 days.

“The process of dividing the state has been started”, said Ramesh. “Two committees were formed for dividing the employees between the two states of Telangana and Seemandhra. One committee will look after the issue of dividing the All India Service Officials and the other one is made to divide the state cadre officials”, said Ramesh.

About 84,000 employees are working in Andhra Pradesh at present.

He said that about seven mandals in Khammam district would be merged in Seemandhra state. “But, seven villages in Burgampahad mandal will be in Telangana itself”, said the minister.

“Centre will soon issue an ordinance on the issue”, said Ramesh.

“A special committee is formed in the planning commission to look after the affairs of the budget of Seemandhra. It will start its work from next week”, said the minister.

The minister said that a gazette on the formation of the new state would be issued within five days. He said that the formation day of the new state would also be included in that gazette.
