Secunderabad: A video of a school principal demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000 to alter certain numbers of a student has gone viral. The incident occurred at St. George's High School in Moula Ali.

The video has caught attention of district education officer (DEO) Medchal and has ordered inquiry against the principal.

DEO Usha Rani said that if proven guilty action would also be initiated against the principal and also the official from the education department who is involved.

“If the principal was doing it in her own capacity a criminal complaint would be lodged against her with the police. If the school was also found to have been resorting to such practices, its recognition would be cancelled and if the involvement of any official from education department is proved, then action would also be initiated against the officials,” said Usha.

The video has been uploaded by Nooria Nayan, and appears to be recorded either by a student or student’s relative.

The video shows the principal saying, "You are in big problem. First of all, he has less attendance and to top it he missed his internal exam. With these marks how can he be allowed to write the exam."

The parent tries to bargain for lesser amount and asks principal to settle for less than Rs 30,000. But the principal opens the pandora's box saying that the money has to be shared at the mandal level as others are also involved in it.

"There is one sir in MEO office who has connection. To put marks for everyone, I have to ‘feed’ everyone. It is not just in my hands or just my table. There are four or five tables, who also need something," the principal said.

The video ends showing the principal taking the bribe and on realizing that the entire episode has been recorded, she yells asking to delete the video
