Massive Tampering Of Land Records Under Chandrababu In Name Of Computerisation

YSR Congress party Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy

Chinnagollapalem Cross, Visakhapatnam District: Today is the birthday of my older daughter, who is in Hyderabad for a short while. She is pursuing her studies in London and came home during the course of a short vacation. Much as I wanted to be with her, I had to be here on the Padayatra and the fact that I was away from her tugged at my heartstrings. However,  I am confident that my daughter is understanding and is fully aware of my circumstances and compulsions.

Our tradition honours a teacher as a god in our lives. Sri Venkatappayya, my father’s teacher is an ideal for many students. It gives me immense satisfaction to run the school established in his name which serves hundreds of children from the most impoverished background and provides them with quality education.

I paid homage to the great Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and all other teachers who give meaning and direction to their students. It pleased me no end to honour vice chancellors from various universities on the occasion of teachers day today.

The land grabbing activities of TDP leaders have reached alarming levels.  They threaten, deceive and grab the land they have their eyes on at any cost. Invariably, this is land which belongs to the poor people in the region. It has become a common practice in this regime to snatch the land of the poor and pass them on to the proxies of Telugu Desam leaders. Those who refuse to part with their precious land are implicated in false cases.

The plight of farmers from Mudapaka, exemplifies this. The gaze of TDP leaders fell upon land belonging traditionally to SC/ST and BC communities on which they had been cultivating their crops for ages. Proxies of TDP leaders descended upon these lands like vultures. These helpless farmers met me and narrated their problems to me. It is indeed cruelty to snatch land belonging to the poor and turn it into a real estate venture in the name of proxies! This is what the TDP leaders are doing. It is obvious that the formula adopted to grab land in Amaravati, is being used in Visakhapatnam also.

The controversy related to temple lands of Simhachalam continues to rage. Chandrababu had promised that he would resolve the issue within 100 days of coming to power after holding a cabinet meeting. To this day, there is no progress on this. This TDP government is interested more in creating controversies and problems than in resolving contentious issues and doing justice where needed.

Is there no freedom of expression in a democracy? Muslim youth who reminded the TDP government of the promises made by the party in its election manifesto, were branded as anti-nationals and traitors and implicated in false cases. They were harassed, tortured and humiliated. This is what Muslim youth who met me told me about their experience following Chandrababu’s “Nara Hamara” programme.  The atrocities they were subjected to, the harassment and humiliation they suffered at the hands of the police, shocked me.

For four long years, the thought of Muslims and their welfare had never occurred to Chandrababu Naidu. Suddenly, he seems to have woken up to their plight on the eve of elections, illustrating the most opportunistic brand of politics. When I came to know today that my uncle Dr YS Purushotam Reddy passed away, I was overcome with sadness. It is indeed a great loss to our family to lose a humanist and a man who stood for his humanitarian ideals. I prayed to God to grant his soul eternal peace.
