Leader of the Opposition in Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly and YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy addressed a massive public gathering at Rayavaram mandal of Mandapet constituency in East Godavari district, as part of his mass outreach programme, Praja Sankalpa Yatra on Day 209. The people's leader thanked the public for joining him in the padayatra.

Launching a scathing attack on Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for lack of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for rice crops, YS Jagan said that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government had completely failed to deliver on its 2014 election promises. The TDP sand mafia is being officially supported by officials and the police, he said. Now-a-days, sand dunes are seen around Chandrababu's residence in Amaravati, he remarked.

Oruvelli, Kakamudi and Kedarlanka villages in this constituency are witness to open smuggling of sand amid backlash from the local public, he said. When women from Oruvelli opposed the exploitation, they were subject to severe lathicharge and cases under SC/SC atrocities were foisted against them, he added. The TDP leaders are minting money to the tune of Rs 7,000 to Rs 12,000 per load of sand, YS Jagan pointed out.

The rivers in Keshavaram and Dwarapudi now resemble deserts, after the sand mafia has emptied all the sand and mud in the name of Neeru-Chettu program, he asserted. The Neeru-Chettu program is a symbol of Chandrababu's corruption, he said. The YSRCP Chief added that it won't be a surprise if Chandrababu promises one kilogram of gold and a Benz car to every household in the state before the next elections, after his failed promises in 2014.

YS Jagan pointed out that the women's self-help groups were cheated and were not given loan waivers. The AP CM promised to build a house for every poor man in the state: "How many houses has he built till date?" he asked. In Dr. YSR's regime, 14,000 houses were built in this constituency, but not even a single house in the last four years, YS Jagan said.

Back in 2014, Chandrababu promised to waive off farm loans, instead he has burdened the state government with a loan of Rs 87,600 crores, he said. A total of 186 acres of land had been allocated by Dr YSR for construction of houses to the poor in Mandapeta mandal, he observed.

Repeated Bank loan notices continue to harass farmers and the women's co-operative societies and Self Help Groups, he added. In this constituency, Bharatha Mata women's association, Jhansi Lakshmi women's group etc have been cheated by Chandrababu, he said. On the other side, Chandrababu is planning to sell flats at the rate of 2,000 per feet to the poor, while the builder rate is only 1,000 per feet, YS Jagan said.

People of the region have complained to me about the pollution caused by a paper mill in the region, YS Jagan remarked. Dr YSR had set up a 60-bed community health centre, but it does not even have an X-ray operator, cleaning staff and there is not even an air-conditioner in the Operation Theatre now, he maintained.

In 2014, Chandrababu launched the Janma Bhoomi program in kapileshwaram mandal, where he promised to set up a dumping yard, but he failed to fulfil even such a small promise, he pointed out.

Chandrababu, who had colluded with BJP in denying SCS to AP, promised to implement liquor ban, provide electricity at the rate of Rs 2 for acquatic farmers and build 2 lakh houses for the poor among a long list of poll promises, but he did not even fulfill one of them, YS Jagan observed.

Just six months before elections, he has established Anna canteens, and nominally increased the mess and boarding charges for poor students, he said.

Home guards, PRAs, Asha workers, Anganwadi workers etc have been ignored for the last four years and recently, Chandrababu gave them increments just six months before elections, the YSRCP Chief observed.

If YSRCP comes to power, houses will be built for all government employees and the ban of CPA, clearance of 10th PRC dues will be immediately delivered, he promised.
