As YS Jagan's Praja Sankalpa Yatra crossed the iconic Godavari bridge in Rajahmundry accompanied by thousands of partyworkers, supporters and common masses the mood was visibly upbeat. Men and women marched along with the mass leader waving party flags on the famous landmark which symbolises the prosperity and agrarian abundance of Andhra Pradesh. The vast expanse of the Godavari waters could be seen in the background as slogans cheering YS Jagan rent the air. Police prevented partyworkers and supporters from joining the padayatra and yet the numbers continued to swell with every passing minute.

Over the past few days, similar crowds have been thronging the padayatra undaunted by heavy downpour in places. The historic walkathon which has so far completed 2300 kilometres in 186 days, has now entered East Godavari district. The people's leader was accorded an unprecendented welcome in the district with people showering flowers from the rooftops.

600 boats dotted the Godavari waving flags welcoming YS Jagan. Women welcomed him with traditional dances and songs.

The YSRCP chief began his padayatra on November 6, 2017 from Idupulapaya in Dr YSR district after paying homage to his father late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy. The Praja Sankalpa Yatra has so far covered Dr YSR district, Anantapur, Kurnool, Chittoor, Nellore, Prakasam, Guntur, Krishna, West Godavari and is currently in East Godavari.

The popular mass contact initiative will culminate at Ichchapuram in Srikakulam district after passing through Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram districts. It may be recalled that both Dr YSR and his daughter Sharmila concluded their padayatras Praja Prasthanam and Maro Praja Prasthanam at the same place.
