The Anti-Corruption Bureau Court in Hyderabad will re-initiate its probe into a  complaint lodged in 2005 by Lakshmi Parvathi, the widow of former chief minister NT Rama Rao against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu.

In 2005 Lakshmi Parvati approached the Anti-Corruption Bureau Court in Hyderabad accusing Chandrababu of amassing wealth disproportionate to his known means of income.  She based her submission on information provided by Chandrababu Naidu in affidavits submitted to the Election Commission authorities, among others.

Chandrababu Naidu obtained a stay order in the case from the AP High Court at that time. However with the Supreme Court‘s decision to vacate all stay orders pending for more than 6 months, the stay order in Chandrababu Naidu‘s case automatically got cancelled.

Subsequently Lakshmi Parvathi who is the petitioner in the case received summons from the ACB court and appeared before it on Friday. She has reiterated her statement and has said that she would fight against Chandrababu Naidu in the matter till he faces conviction for amassing wealth through illegal means.

Lakshmi Parvathi pointed to the discrepancies in Chandrababu’s own claims in the affidavits filed by him in elections. She described him as a symbol of corruption.

The court has now listed the matter for hearing on May 13.
